75th Victory in Europe Day
Today, the 8th May 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. My son and I decided that for our celebrations, we will have a little party for two at home (of course).
I was so excited to get my teapot out of the cupboard for this special occasion. (the little things in life pleases me).
Union Jack Flags
We created Union Jack flags and baked salted caramel cupcakes using a read mix from a box. For the flags, I created these out of sugar paste and made the numbers 75 to place on top.
We played marbles, jacks, and a game of snap. My son was better than me at marbles. He was good at all the games.
VE Day Afternoon Tea
I then set the party table, covering it with a white tablecloth and placing the flags that we made on top.
It was only a little party, but much enjoyable. We had cupcakes, strawberries, sandwiches, a mini quiche, and cups of tea while watching The Imitation Game.
There is nothing quite like a nice cup of tea with the milk going in last, not first. (particularly important).
For the rest of the day, we will be listening to 1940s music and watching a few movies.
