“Me Time” for Self Discovery.
First of all, in 2020 I am making a conscious effort to dedicate some time to myself, as part of my self discovery. Moreover, I used to think that it was selfish but realise that it is necessary. Thus, I am marking this year as the year of change. I also want to try out something new (like indoor skiing) or maybe visit a new place once in a while.
I am tired of feeling tired all the time, and this is mainly down to me worrying about every little thing. Although, I know that it is a problem when my son comments that I worry too much. (including my mum and boyfriend). Therefore reducing my anxiety is a must as it makes me feel mentally drained.
A Good Night’s Sleep.
I now use a sleep app to record my sleeping pattern. No surprise, it turns out that I am a light sleeper, and averaging four hours of restful sleep per night. Therefore, a goal this month is to improve my quality of sleep.
Coffee is my weakness; although I must stay strong and stick to my goal of reducing my caffeine intake. Additionally, I have already made a start and aim to reduce drinking coffee down to three cups a week by the end of January. (I know that caffeine has some impact on my lack of sleep).
It is not about how I look but how I want to feel, and that’s healthy again. That is to say, I know that I am not at my best health-wise.
Lastly, I want to feel good and full of energy again. Then, in turn, my confidence will come back.
Self-Discovery and Weekly planner.
I have created two templates to use as a wellbeing check-up and to help me keep on track. (and you are welcomed to use them too for yourself).
The weekly planner allows you to write down daily notes, and there is a happiness scale that you circle to rate your happiness at the end of the week. The heart in the corner asks to list three things that make you happy, to help set a positive mindset going into the next week.
Additionally, the self-discovery planner has a prompt list asking about strengths, weaknesses, hobbies and other questions. There is also a word cloud showing ideas for “Me Time” activities. I have created a table on the planner for self-development (The table preferable be filled in in January, April, July and then October). Lastly, I have spaced the months out to allow time for growth and reflection.
